A smoothie bowl is just a smoothie thick enough to eat with a spoon. The trick is using very little liquid and a tamper or patience. Unsweetened açaí packs keep the sugar down.
Ingredients
You’ll need: Blender
Method
Run the açaí packet under warm water for a few seconds, then break it into pieces.
Add the almond milk, açaí, frozen banana and berries to the blender.
Blend on low, stopping to scrape down and push ingredients into the blades. Add milk a tablespoon at a time only if needed: it should be thick like soft-serve.
Spoon into a bowl and top with granola, sliced banana, berries and a drizzle of honey.
Tips
A blender with a tamper (like a Vitamix) makes thick bowls far easier.
Toppings add up fast: granola, nut butter and honey can double the calories.

Nutrition at a glance
One serving has about 345 calories, 6 g protein, 10 g fiber and 26 g sugar (mostly from fruit). Pair it with eggs, toast or a handful of nuts if it’s your whole breakfast. Values are estimates from USDA data for the exact amounts listed; swapping milks or yogurts changes them: try our smoothie calorie calculator to check your version.
Make it ahead
Pack the solid ingredients (fruit, greens, seeds, oats) into a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months. In the morning, tip the bag into the blender, add the liquid and yogurt, and blend. A blended smoothie keeps in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake before drinking. More on smoothie freezer packs.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my smoothie bowl too runny?
