Two frozen bananas make a smoothie so thick and creamy it tastes like a banana milkshake. Use spotty, ripe bananas for the most sweetness: you may not need the honey at all.

Ingredients

1 serving

You’ll need: Blender

Method

  1. Add the milk, yogurt, honey, vanilla and cinnamon to the blender.

  2. Add the frozen banana pieces.

  3. Blend on high until thick and creamy, 30-45 seconds.

Tips

  • Peel and slice ripe bananas before freezing so they’re easy to blend.

  • No frozen bananas? Use fresh ones and a cup of ice.

Nutrition at a glance

One serving has about 390 calories, 16 g protein, 6 g fiber and 49 g sugar, including any optional sweetener. That makes it a reasonable stand-alone breakfast. Values are estimates from USDA data for the exact amounts listed; swapping milks or yogurts changes them: try our smoothie calorie calculator to check your version.

Make it ahead

Pack the solid ingredients (fruit, greens, seeds, oats) into a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months. In the morning, tip the bag into the blender, add the liquid and yogurt, and blend. A blended smoothie keeps in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake before drinking. More on smoothie freezer packs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a banana smoothie without yogurt?
